Dr Nicola Read

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

BSci (Psychology), GDipPsych, Dpsych(Clinical)

Nicola is a clinical psychologist who has a warm, genuine and non-judgemental approach. Nicola firmly believes that therapy is a collaborative journey with a focus on deepening understanding, and making sense of the past to bring awareness to unhelpful subconscious patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving to provide opportunity for reflection and growth. Throughout her practice, she tries to create a space in which people feel heard, valued, respected and safe to express their authentic selves.

Nicola is experienced working with children, young people and adults across a range of primary and tertiary settings. Nicola is passionate about helping clients with a range of presentations including adjustment issues, self-esteem, stress and anxiety, mood disorders, attachment and relationship dynamics, perfectionism, eating and body image related concerns, parenting concerns and trauma.

Nicola draws from a trauma-informed, attached focused and family systems lens when working with clients. In her therapy, Nicola utilises a combination of evidence-based and person-centred therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Schema Therapy to meet the unique needs of those she works with. Nicola has worked with a range of people who are diverse in gender, culture, language and family structure and welcomes culturally and linguistically diverse or LGBTQIA+ people to feel safe and supported.
