Dr Sophie Leitch

Sophie is a clinical psychologist who has a warm and collaborative client-centred approach. She recognises the importance of clients feeling safe and respected within the therapy relationship.  Sophie believes that building insight into our patterns of relating to ourselves as well as others can be powerful in improving our relationships and wellbeing. Sophie uses a non-judgemental, flexible approach, to assist clients to reflect on themselves, their relationships and lives. Sophie works at her client’s pace to guide them towards building a meaningful and enjoyable life, offering gentle encouragement when needed.

Sophie has worked in public and private settings, with children, adolescents and adults with a range of presentations including: adjustment difficulties, stress, anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, depression, disordered eating, trauma and personality vulnerabilities. Sophie enjoys working from a relational framework and draws upon multiple evidence based therapeutic approaches to fit individuals’ needs and preferences, including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, mindfulness mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Sophie’s doctorate research focused on the development of a mindful parenting program.
